Looking for ideas for painting a steel bicycle frame? This custom build might give you a little inspiration!
In today’s video, we take a look at an Officina Battaglin Power+ EVO 2020 that combines glossy and matte finishes…
And here’s the story of how Alex and his team brought to life this bespoke design.
Joachim, the owner, is an expert cyclist from Germany.
He reserved one of the 40 build slots available in 2020 for the Power+ EVO after seeing the bike’s fully integrated cockpit hiding all the cables and wires.
This extremely clean look required special tube shapes.
To launch the Power+ EVO, Giovanni and Alex worked with Columbus to customize the Spirit HSS tubing, to create a downtube and headtube that could work in conjunction with the Deda Elementi DCR headset.
So, Joachim’s frame was built from these special Columbus tubes.
The frame geometry was designed by Giovanni and Alex to perfectly fit his body measurements.
For the frame’s finish, Joachim had a very specific request: he wanted to mix the cromovelato’s unique sparkle with an aggressive blacked out look.
So, we finished the frame in red cromovelato, and finished the fork and the Deda Vinci stem in matte black.
The selection of the parts for the complete build had to meet Joachim’s demand for a fast road bike.
That’s why we built the frame with a Sram Red eTap AXS 12-speed disc groupset and the Deda Elementi SL45 carbon clincher wheels.
