The build project
This beautiful machine is the pride and joy of Steve, a passionate cyclist from the US.
Steve has been riding bikes for many years; he loves nothing more than getting out on his bike and exploring the open road.
His passion for cycling led him to meet two other passionate cyclists, Gary and his wife, Cheryl.
The three of them often ride together around the city of Las Vegas where they live, enjoying the beautiful desert landscape on their bikes.
Steve reached out to the Battaglin workshop after Gary first reserved one of the 50 build slots available for the Portofino 2022 in late March.
Gary was so impressed with the craftsmanship behind the Battaglin builds that he not only convinced Cheryl to order her own custom steel road bike…
But he also couldn’t help but talk about it to Steve.
Steve already owned a few different bikes and was always on the lookout for new and exciting cycling equipment.
He was immediately intrigued by Gary’s enthusiasm…
As a matter of fact, it only took a few weeks before he decided to reserve his own Portofino build slot for a dream build project!
The build kit
Steve’s Portofino was designed to his measurements and built from scratch using Columbus GB81 tubing and cast lugs.
For the complete bike, Steve went for a full Italian build with top-of-the-line parts.
The Campagnolo Super Record EPS 12-speed groupset offers smooth and precise shifting in any riding conditions.
The Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO 45 wheels provide the perfect balance of aerodynamics and stability, for a smooth and fast ride.
But the real showstopper of this Portofino is the blue cromovelato finish, topped off by a painted-to-match Deda Elementi finishing kit.
The stem, handlebar, and seatpost all feature the frame’s translucent and deep color, making for a cohesive and sleek look.
Picking up the bike at the Battaglin workshop for a memorable cycling holiday
Steve, Gary, and Cheryl picked up the bikes at the Battaglin workshop.
The delivery was a memorable cycling experience.
Then, they spent the following days exploring the beautiful countryside of the Veneto and Lombardy regions on their new Battaglin bikes.
In conclusion, not only is Steve’s Portofino a fine piece of Italian framebuilding with state-of-the-art cycling technology…
But it’s the symbol of a friendship, a shared love for cycling, and an experience Steve will never forget.
